My heart hurts when I see what is happening in our world right now. Sometimes it seems as if we have lost all decency, honor, and caring for one another. Last night I found myself beginning to worry because of the rioting and looting. When the world feels out of control, it is easy to worry.
But over the past few years, I have made it my mission to try and focus on the positive things that I can find in this world. There are multitudes of them. But if we seek out the violence and anger, then it will find its way to us. If we seek out truth and justice, then it will find its way as well. If we want peace and love, then we must express that to other people.
We cannot change what has already happened. But we can strive to do better. We can put efforts towards being the light and love that this world so desperately needs. We can show love instead of hate. We can show support instead of tearing each other down. And we can give others the respect that we would like to receive for ourselves.
Each day you have a choice. You can get up and seek out the drama and negativity that is so abundant and easy to find, or you can go deeper and find something that is truly worth seeking. Love is worth seeking and showing to other people. Compassion is worth finding and giving to others. Kindness is worth pursuing and showering on someone else.
If we all would wait 30 seconds before responding to another person, maybe the dialogue would be different. If we all decided that we could share hope instead of gloom with someone else, then our outlook would be brighter. And, if we all made a vow to ourselves to show love to another human being, no matter where they come from or what they look like, then the world would be different. Be the light that this world needs. Show some love to someone today. You never know how desperately they may need it.
