Challenging Myself

Don't limit your challenges, challenge your limits

Yesterday I completed a very difficult online course. It was offered from one of the top universities in the world. And, on a subject that I am very interested in learning more about. At first, I was very excited to dive into it. I love learning new things, especially things that will help me to help other people. However, I had no idea how much I would be challenged in trying to learn this new course.

First, this course is based on another language, which meant that I basically had to learn concepts in medicine that are completely opposite of Western medicine concepts and philosophy. And, I head to learn terminology from a foreign language that I have never read, learned, or spoken. To say that I was challenged is an understatement.

At times, I desperately just wanted to quit. After all, I didn’t need to do this course. No one outside of my husband and children even knew that I was doing it anyway. If I chose to quit, no one care. And, no one would know, it also would not affect anything in my business if I did not complete it. Except, I would know.

I would carry the knowledge with me that I did not complete this course. At many times in my life, I have given up when things have become difficult. I have had many things that I did not complete. I have even had many things that I quit right before I reached the finish line. Those incompleted things have been a burden that I carried around for a long time. So, I challenged myself to complete this course. I made the decision that I would do this regardless of how hard it was, or how discouraged that I felt.

One of the most difficult things in life is to challenge yourself. But it is also the most rewarding. When you complete a challenge, it is one of the most euphoric feelings that you can experience. It boosts your confidence, and it allows you to feel as if you have conquered something that you at one point had doubts that you could accomplish. When we quit challenging ourselves, we quit growing. We become stagnant, and we lose our spark.

No matter what you are doing with your life, it is important to keep challenging ourselves. Challenge yourself to learn something new. Challenge yourself to reach a new goal. Challenge yourself to be better. Because to be our best selves, we need to set new goals and face new challenges.
