Opinions are Poisonous

Stop allowing other people to dilute or poison your day with their words or opinions.

So many times, we allow another person’s negative opinion to stop our progress or crush our dreams. The key word being “allow”. We allow their words to be more important than something that is very valuable or important to us. We are giving them power over our life.

 

The difference between people who are highly successful and those who are not is that the successful ones learned to not let another person’s opinion sway their opinion of themselves. They did not allow that person’s words to affect their vision. They did not allow that person’s negative energy to hinder their progress.

 

Too often we allow those around us to feed into the insecurity that we are already feeling. When they tell us something won’t work, or that we shouldn’t do something, we believe them. Even if it is a life changing idea. What if you are preventing the world from having the cure for cancer? What if you are preventing the world from knowing something that only you have to offer?

 

The next time that you feel discouraged by someone in your life and their opinion, remember that it is your life. You have the power to allow them to affect you or not. In my own life, I have often let another’s opinion hold me back from doing things that I wanted to do. I had to work to overcome my insecurities. I had to let go of caring what others thought of me. And, I am still a work in progress. But through my experience, I have learned that I am a much happier, more satisfied person when I follow my heart and not another person’s opinion.
