Filling A Bucket

Your kindness matters

Sometimes in this world full of negativity and fighting, it may seem as if there is nothing good left. Often, if we are struggling financially, we may feel like we have no ability to help someone. But that is not true.

Today, I read a story about a woman who had posted on social media about how she regretted not climbing a mountain as a young girl. Her adventure had gotten cut short when bad weather had canceled her climb. She never returned to that mountain, because later in life she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. You see, even though her body was no longer capable, her mind still yearned to climb that mountain.

Someone read her story and decided that they would make her dream a reality. They instilled the help of a rugby team, a welder, and other volunteers to help her climb that mountain. In total, forty people climbed with her. Forty complete strangers dedicated their time and energy to show kindness to someone they did not know. They helped her to fulfill her bucket list.

Sometimes we may think that we have nothing to offer someone. Or, we may think because we have little or no money that we cannot help someone. But kindness is free. If you can muster a small amount of kindness to offer to another human being, you may make a lifetime of difference to them. Never hesitate to help someone. Don’t talk yourself out of being kind for fear of refection. You have no idea how just sharing a small amount of your time and energy can fill someone’s bucket.
