For a long time, I did not recognize my value. I thought my worth was tied up in what I brought to other people. I thought that I alone was not enough. I struggled with my self-worth, my confidence, and my place in this world. And, I thought that I was the only person in the world who struggled in this way. But sometimes desperate situations can force drastic changes in your life.
When my health began to suffer, and I had a devastating accident, it forced me to change many things in my life. To regain my health and mobility, I had to make myself my top priority. It was a complete reversal of how I had always lived. Doing this made me have to learn to give up control and delegate tasks to other people. It made me let go of things that I had been holding onto for far too long. And it made me begin to recognize my value.
Through my work, I have seen that most people do not know their value. They do not realize how significant they are. They do not understand that the most important thing that we can do for others is to make sure that we are healthy and whole ourselves. Before we try to help someone else, we need to be fit in our mind, body, and spirit. Yet, most of us probably neglect our own needs and put others first. I know most of my life was spent doing this. But through my journey to regaining my health I have learned that to do my best to serve others, I must put myself first. I am not saying this to sound arrogant or selfish, as some might think. I am saying this through the experience of neglecting myself for so long that I almost did irreversible damage to myself because of my desire to help others. I took my health for granted. Because I did not understand my value.
Every person on this Earth has a place in which they belong. Every person is significant. Without you, the world is missing an important piece that only you can provide. Unfortunately, most of us don’t recognize how important we really are. Today, I would like you to know that your health your life in every area needs to be balanced, especially with your health and well-being. Because you are important. You are irreplaceable. You are valuable.
