"It costs nothing to be nice"
I saw this quote today, and it reminded me of preschool. We are taught in school to be nice to others. We are taught in church to be kind to our neighbor. And we teach our children to be nice when we are playing with other children. Yet in today’s world, it seems as if very few people are nice to each other. At least that seems to be true if you spend any time on social media at all. Everyone wants to be right. Everyone wants to make their point. And while there is nothing wrong with standing on your beliefs, is it worth when it comes at the expense of hurting someone else?
Until we can learn to refrain from arguing with each other, the world that we are all unhappy with won’t change. Until we can learn to build each other up instead of tearing someone down, the ugliness that we hate will only grow. Until we can learn to love each other instead of hate, things will only get worse. You have the power to make a change. You have the power to choose to spread something uplifting out into the universe instead of sending out something destructive. If you don’t like the world you see, decide to be part of the solution instead of contributing to the problem. After all, you expend the same amount of energy to send out something negative as it does to send out something positive. And, like we tell our children, it costs nothing to be nice.
Have a blessed day!
