In our world of texting, emailing and social media, we often are communicating without seeing an expression or hearing a tone. We will thoughtlessly send a message and never think about how the other person is receiving it. I know I have had miscommunication through texting. Or I have read a comment from another person that sounded very offensive, only to find out later that they meant something totally different.
We are all so prepared to think the worst of people that sometimes that we will automatically be offended instead of trying to understand where they are coming from. And we are in such a hurry to do something that we don’t pay attention to how our communication is coming across to someone else. I think it is important that we take a few seconds to pause and read what we are sending out into the world. Before you send that text, or reply to that email, or even leave a comment on social media, be mindful of how you sound. In our need to rush, we can be saying something extremely hurtful to another person when that was never our intention.
Strive each day to send positive words and energy out into the world. Even if it is just paying attention before you send something out, those few seconds it takes to do that can make a big difference to the person receiving your communication. Take the time to watch your tone.
